What do you make?

Lots of things! I’m probably the most skilled at sewing as it’s been a lifelong hobby taught to me by my grandma when I was little. I also enjoy making beaded jewelry, paper crafts, graphic design, cooking, etc. Honestly, I’m always up for trying something new or seeing a cool idea and figuring out how to make it myself.

Is making a hobby, a business, or a little of both?

A bit of both 🙂 I own a small digital agency with my husband, so I create websites and logos professionally. IRL making is for fun.

What inspired you to get into making?

I was always encouraged to build, craft, make and be “creative”. I feel like I’ve been making things my whole life either out of joy or neccessity.

What brought you to Lowell Makes?

We moved to Lowell and my husband, Rudy, immediately got a membership. I trailed a bit before signing on, but after seeing everything Lowell Makes had to offer and the people there I came on board.

What’s your favorite thing about being a member?

Hands down, the people. There is such an amazing community at LM. All of the makers and artists are so generous with their time and knowledge. Whenever I’m there I learn something from someone.

Has being a Lowell Makes member changed your process? If so, how?

Yes, it’s made me more collaborative. I’m used to doing my own thing and just figuring stuff out. I’ve learned so much and tried so many new things because of the folks at LM.

What are you working on right now?

Right now I’m working on graphic design for our entry in the Kinetic Sculpture Race. Soon, we’ll be constructing the “art” part of the sculpture.

What do you hope to make, learn, or accomplish next?

I have this gorgeous plaid silk tweed that I bought ages ago and never knew what to do with. I think a waistcoat-style vest.
