May at Lowell Makes is all about momentum, growth, and getting involved. From new classes and shop upgrades to community events and international visitors, there’s a lot happening! Our new Jump Start Jewelry workshop kicks off May 16–17, and we’re also starting a new women’s woodworking meetup in June. Over in Ceramics, major studio improvements are underway, with new layouts, shelving, and kiln upgrades helping make the space more functional and collaborative for members.
There are plenty of ways to connect with the community this month. Join us for the Monthly Social on May 15th, Workshop Sundays on May 31st, or sign up for Tour Guide Onboarding on June 3rd if you’d like to help welcome new visitors to the space. Members can also take part in the upcoming E-Waste Disposal Dropoff in June, and we’re already looking ahead to our annual BBQ Potluck this July with a Brew Shop poll for summer BBQ brew.
We’re also celebrating the incredible success of Mill City Skill Share 2026, which brought more than 300 makers, artists, and curious creatives together for a full day of hands-on learning and community connection. And earlier this month, Lowell Makes welcomed Fergal Dennehy, the Lord Mayor of Cork, Ireland, whose visit highlighted Lowell’s growing recognition as a center for creativity, collaboration, and lifelong learning.
Be sure to check out this month’s committee meetings, classes, and meetups and connect with your fellow makers!
