Web Coding: Introduction to HTML and CSS
March 18 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
In this one-session workshop we will introduce the building blocks of coding websites, Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). By the end of the workshop you will have created a basic web page and have an idea of the next steps to learn coding through HTML and CSS.
We will cover the following topics:
- The basic structure of a web page in HTML
- Modifying the look and feel of your web pages with CSS
- Next steps to continue learning on your own
- How to publish your web page live in the internet
The instructor presentation will cover the fundamentals. Hands-on practice time will help cement the concepts and provide a basis for more advanced work to follow.
Class is limited to six participants. Feel free to come with a topic or idea for your webpage if you have one, otherwise one will be provided. Laptops will be available for the hands-on portion. We will be using Visual Studio Code, a free editor that allows you to code HTML and CSS. If you wish to bring your own laptop, be sure to install VS Code from https://code.visualstudio.com/ before the class meets.
